Reports and Data Engineer (entry-level)

Position Summary: The Reports and Data Engineer (entry-level) is responsible for (1) designing, building, and maintaining data flows between systems and applications, and (2) using those data to build reporting tools and analyses that empower decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong technical and analytical skills with problem-solving and collaborative abilities. The position requires the ability and willingness to travel in support of campaign work.
Job Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Supporting, maintaining, and developing a data warehouse, related databases and reporting systems:
- Collaborating with the Lead, internal development team, and other partners to build and support reporting tools.
- Communicating development plans, progress and risks to stakeholders.
- Developing, monitoring and maintaining ETL processes to integrate data from various systems used by the union and its affiliates, troubleshooting as needed.
- Interacting with existing REST APIs to transfer data. Designing and implement new APIs as needed.
- Building and maintaining dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools to provide actionable insights for campaigns and leadership.
- Documenting processes and maintaining version control.
- Keeping up to date with industry trends and technology developments.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- Motivation to work long and unpredictable hours for economic and social justice;
- Proficiency in SQL, Python (including pandas and Jupyter notebooks), and other high-level programming languages;
- Experience using source control such as Git on team projects;
- Experience using APIs to move data between systems;
- Experience creating reports and dashboards using PowerBI, Civis, Tableau, IBM Cognos Analytics or Salesforce, and interpreting data with decision makers;
- Degree in data analytics, data science, information technology, computer science, or equivalent experience;
- Creativity and flexibility in problem-solving;
- Ability to travel occasionally;
- Expectation of participation in core Union activities.
Salary: $74,000, commensurate with experience
