Personal Executive Assistant to the President
UNITE HERE seeks a high-level assistant to support General President Gwen Mills directly. Traveling frequently but based in Washington, D.C., the Personal Executive Assistant will also coordinate with UNITE HERE Political Director and serve some administrative functions as a designee of the President in the Washington, DC office. Ideal candidates will possess strong administrative skills and have demonstrated experience as a personal assistant or personal executive assistant to the principal agent of a large organization.
As the Personal Executive Assistant to the President, your role will include (but is not limited to):
- Maintaining meeting schedules, answering and responding to incoming calls
- Coordinating complex travel itineraries and “road warrior” logistics
- Traveling with the President
- Handling confidential and non-routine information with sensitivity
- Assisting with document management, filing, expenses, etc.
- Managing some errands for the President (such as food runs, shopping, dry cleaning, etc.)
- Preparing the President for meetings by previewing agendas and securing necessary materials
- Taking notes and minutes in meetings and tracking action items
- Assisting with planning meetings, events, and worker actions
- Coordinating with UNITE HERE Political Director on event logistics in the Washington, D.C. office
- Supporting other administrative and logistics operations as directed by the President.
Candidates for this position must have:
- 2-5 years prior relevant work experience
- Proven ability to be flexible and adapt to rapid changes
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Ability to travel 50-75% of the time
- Flexibility with scheduling and work hours
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Ability to use discretion and good judgement
- Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook and Zoom
- Proven experience with taking initiative and being proactive while also coordinating closely with the principal and executing as part of a team.
Outstanding candidates will also have:
- Motivation to support worker organizing for economic justice
- Experience with or knowledge of labor unions or civil and/or immigrant rights activist experience
- Second language skills (Spanish preferred).

Salary: $80,000-$90,000 commensurate with experience.
