UNITE HERE is seeking a Technical Writer (Training) to revise existing training material and prepare new material for use in the training of new and less-experienced organizers, researchers, and rank-and-file leaders of leading union in the hotel, food service, gaming, and industrial laundry industries in the United States and Canada. Prepare materials in English and Spanish.
The Technical Writer (Training) is a roving position which will be transferred throughout U.S. as major organizing or contract renewal campaigns require.
Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
Meet with organizing staff leaders and union members to understand training needs, literacy levels, etc.
Attend key events and training sessions.
Prepare timely, well-written material, tailored to the needs of our active organizing, contract enforcement and community programs in English or Spanish as required for effective communication with workers.
Edit materials for grammar, orthography and content.
Do basic layout, aiming for style that can be reproduced across the languages.
Job Qualifications:
Requires at least a bachelor’s degree in Spanish, fluent spoken and written Spanish and English and at least two years as a staff person or rank and file leader of a union.
Locations: Roving position which will be transferred throughout U.S. as major organizing or contract renewal campaigns require.
