Reports to: Accounting Manager
Summary:
Oversees the government financial reporting process (i.e. LM 2 and 990s) for the Union. Provide confirmation that all activities meet generally accepted accounting principles and adhere to policies of the IU and the Finance Department and all appropriate governmental agencies and oversight bodies.
Job Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
• Propose procedures related to ensure compliance with appropriate DOL regulations.
• Develops policies and procedures for government reporting.
• Serves as the in-house expert regarding LM-2 and 990s.
• Establishes continuous improvement systems to enhance functionality of reporting and projection system based on feedback from staff, officers and legal counsel.
• Communicate with departments regarding reporting needs.
• Maintains worksheets and support documentation to be used for audit purposes.
• Ensures protocols is updated accordingly.
• Identify and recommend changes to processes to enhance the accuracy of reporting data and/or efficiency of the department.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field with 3 – 5 years accounting experience.
• Attention to detail, communication and organizational skills are paramount
• Hands on working knowledge of Oracle, MIP or similar accounting systems, and MS Office Suite.
• Team orientation with a strong emphasis on providing quality service to the affiliates and operational departments.
• Connection with union mission preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Previous experience with LM-2 and 990s preferred.
